DO THE ART CRAWL SUNDAY IN CARY

CARY, NC – Enjoy a day of the arts in Cary with the opening of several new exhibitions by "crawling" from reception to reception—five in all and all free--this Sunday, April 7, from 2 - 4 p.m. at 4 locations in Cary—Page-Walker Arts & History Center, Herbert C. Young Community Center, Jordan Hall Arts Center, and the Cary Ballet Conservatory. Meet accomplished area and regional artists and view their work in an informal, relaxed atmosphere, staying as little or as long as you like.

At the Page-Walker Arts & History Center, 119 Ambassador Loop, Melissa Miller's "Dreamscapes," inspired by the open spaces and variable skies which surround her Chapel Hill home, are in the first floor galleries. "Moments In Time," a photography exhibit by Gloria Kutschied's students from Johnston Community College will be in the gallery on the second floor.

"As We See It: Photography by East Cary Middle School Students" reveals both the technical expertise and the imagination of teacher Dona Dowling's students. The exhibit will hang at the Herbert C. Young Community Center, 404 N. Academy Street.

Mixed media artist Marty Matthews "New Works" exhibit at Jordan Hall Arts Center, 908 N. Harrison Avenue, will feature abstract drawings, paintings and prints that capture movement and portray images in a surreal way. Matthews also collects found objects from all walks of life for use in his thought-provoking assemblages.

The Fine Arts League of Cary's annual "Spring Juried Artists' Exhibition" takes place this year at Cary Ballet Conservatory, 3791 NW Cary Parkway. This prestigious exhibit draws artists from a multi-state area. Jurors for the exhibit are Kathleen Callahan Reider, currently Associate Professor of Art at NCSU, and Georgia M. Springer, adjunct faculty member at Meredith College.

All shows will be on exhibit during the month of April. For information call (919) 460-4963.
