WHERE: 300 Block of Hunter Street in downtown Cary

WHO: Homeowners, Town and County elected officials and staff, DHIC, Inc.

BACKGROUND:

These are the first lower-priced units to be constructed with Town assistance since the Town of Cary adopted its Affordable Housing Plan. Both the Town of Cary and Wake County have provided funds to help in the construction of twenty-five units of moderately-priced homes near downtown Cary: these four single-family detached units on Hunter Street and twenty-one townhouses off Waldo Street.

The Town of Cary is undertaking a variety of strategies to address a deficit in the proportion of moderately-priced housing available to service workers, public safety workers, teachers, and others who work in Cary. Additional benefits include less commuting on Cary roads and more stable employment base for Cary businesses.
