NEW PUBLICATION GUIDES CARY CITIZENS THROUGH
THEIR GOVERNMENT
CARY, NC – Nearly 33,000 households in Cary will receive this week in the mail their first comprehensive quick reference to their local government, the Town of Cary’s Citizen’s Guide to Services. From "adult sports leagues" and "affordable housing" to "rezonings", "solid waste collection", and "utility billing payment options", the 43-page Guide is chock full of answers to questions citizens ask everyday about services they need that are provided by their Town government. In addition to the 26-page alphabetical listing and explanation of services, Cary’s new Guide includes sections about the Town’s history, management, vital statistics, and budget as well as information on how citizens can become more involved in Town government. The Guide ends with a Town of Cary telephone directory as well as a separate list of commonly requested telephone numbers for services provided by agencies outside Town government.
"We’re very excited to offer this important resource to our citizens," said Town of Cary Public Information Officer Susan Moran. "Whether you’re new to Cary or have lived here all your life, the Citizen’s Guide to Services will be a valuable complement to the other information tools available to you."
In addition to the hardcopy version being mailed this week, an electronic version of the Guide is available under What’s New on the Town’s website for easy download by residents or businesses that want a number of copies for their use. The Town is also developing a Spanish-language version of the Guide, which should be available online in a few months.
Cary’s new Guide to Services, which is intended to last through 2003, was printed by Benson Newspaper Printing at a cost of about 22 cents each.
