Since its debut at Lincoln Center two years ago, The Girls Choir of Harlem has been delighting audiences with its members’ melodious and talented voices. Today, 50 girls comprise the touring concert group, which performs a repertoire that emphasizes the classical tradition, but includes folk, spiritual and international songs as well. The performance in Cary is part of their first tour outside the New York area.
Cary’s Marvelous Music Series is a 4-concert season that included the Loonis McGlohon Trio, the New York Big Brass, the NC Symphony "Play with the Pros" concert and ends with the Girls Choir of Harlem. This series provides affordable, quality family programming using nationally known performing artists.
Other upcoming cultural arts programs include Wiley and the Hairy Man, a creative drama to be presented by Applause! Cary Youth Theatre May 11 - 13, Watership Down on May 20, and A Little Summer Night Music on June 30 at Sertoma Amphitheatre.
