CARY CELEBRATES EARTH DAY FOR FOUR DAYS
CARY, NC – The Town of Cary’s Earth Day celebration—Arbor Day,
"Clean Your Files" Day, Spring 2001 Litter Sweep, and Earth Day—will
last for four days and incorporate varied aspects of the Town’s environmental
initiatives. Through various activities and events, citizens can learn about
different areas of the Town’s environmental focus including stormwater, water
conservation, composting, and tree care. "This event is part of the Town’s
ongoing effort to preserve and protect the environment and our finite natural
resources," said Kim Fisher, Director of Public Works and Utilities.
A schedule of events follows:

Thursday, |
Arbor Day Celebration of Trees at Oak Grove Elementary School, 10:00 to 11:30 AM - Trees will be the highlight of the day as students will be prepared to enjoy songs, poems and artwork about trees and enjoy refreshments that come from trees. |

Friday, |
"Clean Your Files" Day. Increase recycling within your business by cleaning out files and recycling the resulting paper. |

Saturday, |
Spring 2001 Litter Sweep, 8:00 AM - Volunteers will assemble at the Town’s Operations Center at 400 James Jackson Ave., be issued vests, gloves and trash bags, and head out to various areas of Cary to clean roadside litter. After the cleanup, registered participants will be provided with lunch and a demonstration of the how’s and why’s of storm drain stenciling. |
