CARY TO KICK OFF
NEW TRANSIT SYSTEM STARTUP
WITH SPECIAL REGISTRATION EVENT
Members of the media are invited to drop by and ride along as the Town of Cary’s new transit system for the elderly and disabled, C-Tran, makes its maiden voyage to pick up its first riders, taking them to the Cary Senior Center for registration. The event will be held regardless of weather from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM this Thursday, June 28, 2001 as follows:
9:00 AM Arrive at Cary Senior Center in Bond Park
9:15 AM New C-Tran bus departs with media, VIP’s to collect riders
9:45 AM C-Tran returns to the Senior Center with riders, media, VIP’s
9:45 AM Riders go through registration process including making photo IDs,
meet/greet with Town Council members
10:30 AM C-Tran departs Senior Center to return riders to their homes
In addition to riding the bus, media will have open access to the riders for interviewing and to the registration process.
Beginning August 1st, C-Tran will offer low cost, on-demand, reservation-only rides to disabled Cary residents and Cary seniors age 55 and over. C-Tran includes a mix of nine, brand new vans and buses that will take riders ANYWHERE in Cary—to the mall, grocery store, doctors’ offices, homes of friends and family—as well as to riders’ work or medical appointments outside Cary as far as the borders of Orange, Durham, and Wake counties.
Riders must be registered to use C-Tran, with registration kicking off at this June 28th event.
