CARY POLICE AND RED LOBSTER TEAM UP FOR ANNUAL
COPS & LOBSTERS

CARY, NC – Special Olympics athletes, law enforcement officers and Red Lobster servers will launch Cops and Lobsters, one of Cary’s largest Special Olympic fundraisers, on Thursday April 26, 2001 from 5:00 - 11:00 PM at the Cary Red Lobster, 1805 Walnut St. in Crossroads Plaza. Cary Police Officers will take their oath to "serve" and protect to a new level, trading in their handcuffs and badges for menus and serving trays to assist Red Lobster servers during dinner.

Donations, in the form of tips, will benefit local Special Olympics Programs and the Law Enforcement Torch Run. The Torch Run is part of a year-round, grassroots fundraising campaign by law enforcement agencies to benefit their local Special Olympics Programs. All money raised locally supports local Special Olympics and Torch Run programs.

Last year, thousands of officers participated in Cops & Lobsters events held at nearly 600 Red Lobster restaurants across the United States and Canada, raising a record $1.2 million. For more information and additional locations, visit the Special Olympics North Carolina web site at www.sonc.net. For information about the local event, contact Officer Jackson at 469-4012.
