CELEBRATION OF NATURE AT HEMLOCK BLUFFS

CARY, NC – Butterflies will be the theme of this year’s Stevens Nature Center annual Mother’s Day celebration, taking place on Sunday, May 13 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Walk-up stations will feature activities and projects covering butterfly and caterpillar survival strategies, butterfly anatomy and senses, butterfly life cycles, and identification of butterflies and their caterpillars. From 2:00 to 4:00 PM, participants can learn how to attract butterflies to their yard and "pot up" a plant to take home at the butterfly gardening station. Guided tours are scheduled at 2:30, 3:30, and 4:30 PM, and story times will take place at 2:00, 3:00, and 4:00 PM. Light refreshments will be served. This free event offers families and individuals the opportunity to come together to experience the programs of the Stevens Nature Center and become more familiar with the Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve.

The mission of the Stevens Nature Center and Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve is to preserve and protect the unique ecosystems at Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve while providing the opportunity for a rewarding and unique educational and passive recreational experience in nature.
