OFFICER ALMOND NEWS CONFERENCE

 

WHAT: Cary Police Officer George Almond and wife Pam will answer questions from the media. Officer Almond will not discuss the specific events of the shooting itself but will talk generally about having been shot and more specifically about his recovery, the public’s support, and the family’s future.

WHEN: 3 p.m. Tuesday, December 11

WHERE: Cary Police Department training room, located downstairs at Town Hall on the North Academy Street side of the police department, 316 N. Academy St.

BACKGROUND:
Cary Police Officer George F. Almond was critically wounded from a gunshot to the head on October 10th while conducting a traffic stop on US 1/64 near the Walnut Street bridge. This was the first time a Cary Police officer had been shot by a suspect while on duty. The next day, Cary Police arrested Emory Scott Bivins, 28, of Cary as the shooter.
