Cary OK After Overnight Storm

NEWS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 20, 2000

CARY OK AFTER OVERNIGHT SNOW

CARY, NC – About two dozen Town public works staff sanded, salted, and cleared roads overnight in Cary, making this morning’s local drive a little easier for motorists. Major roadways are slushy but passable. Reports of accidents have been light to the Town’s 9-1-1 center, with no reports of serious accidents. Even so, drivers are encouraged to use extreme caution when driving and to wait until later today to go out if possible.

Because of the tremendous amount of precipitation this week, Cary is encouraging homeowners to help preserve their lawns by bringing their garbage cans from their backyards around to their garages. This will keep solid waste crews from dragging their carts through the yards and disturbing the saturated grass. Once again, collection is moved ahead one day in Cary, with Friday collection taking place on Saturday.

Cary has set up a special web section on snow, with information about closings, road conditions, news, and weather. The site can be found under WHAT’S NEW at www.townofcary.org.

Town of Cary offices are open today.
