MAYOR PERKINS EXPRESSES DEEP DISAPPOINTMENT
AT REPUBLICAN OMISSION OF EMERGENCY FUNDS
FOR FEASIBILITY STUDY OF DIKE

PRINCEVILLE, NC – Mayor Delia Perkins expresses her deepest disappointment and much sadness after learning that the Republican draft of the FY 2000 supplement budget request does not include the $1.5 million proposed by President Clinton for a feasibility study of the dike in her small town.

"After having our town completely devastated by flood water, how could anybody be so insensitive and not want the people within in the town to be very well protected," stated Mrs. Perkins. "The town looks to the federal government for technical assistance and finical help, and most important hopes that their city will come back stronger and better than ever. The town hopes that somehow this omission is just a mistake that can be corrected!"
