WAKE SCHOOL CHILDREN TO BENEFIT FROM TODAY’S LOCAL VISIT OF THE GREAT SAFETY ADVENTURE

CARY, NC – About 400 school children will have a great time learning about home safety as the Town of Cary Fire Department and Lowe’s Home Improvement sponsor today’s visit of The Great Safety Adventure-- a new traveling home safety exhibit that teaches basic life skills to children grades K-4. The 1200 square foot Great Safety Adventure will be at the Cary YMCA today from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The exhibit, which is carried on two tractor-trailer rigs, emphasizes four important home safety risk areas: fire & burn prevention, choking, suffocation, and strangulation and poison prevention.

"This new tool should make a real difference in reinforcing important safety ideas with children," said Cary Fire Education Specialist Ken Hawley. "We are very pleased and excited to have this exhibit in Cary."

The Great Safety Adventure mimics an actual house that participants can explore with the assistance of trained home safety specialists who ensure that safety messages are clearly delivered. To keep things fun, The Great Safety Adventure mascot and home safety hound, Rover makes special appearances throughout the tour.

The Great Safety Adventure was unveiled this month and will be traveling across the country. This will be its second stop in Wake County.
