PUBLIC INPUT SOUGHT ON

PARKS, GREENWAYS, & BIKEWAYS MASTER PLAN

CARY, NC -- The Cary Town Council will hold a public hearing on the Town’s draft Parks, Greenways, & Bikeways Master Plan on June 25th at its regular meeting. This long-range recreation and alternative transportation plan addresses enhancements and future implementation of a system of parks, greenways, and bikeways to the year 2010. The Master Plan provides recommendations on the type and quality of facilities that should be developed, where they should be located, and how these facilities should be implemented.

"We hope that Cary citizens will share their thoughts about how we can best meet future recreation needs in Cary," said Mary Barry, Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Director. "This type of plan is vital in helping to sustain and improve the community’s quality of life for years to come."

Cary’s future needs as discussed in the proposed Master Plan were defined over several months and through several methods, including an analysis of the current distribution of facilities as well as workshops with local residents, Town staff, and the Cary Town Council. A scientific citizen survey was conducted, and there was additional research on programming needs.

For those who cannot attend Thursday’s meeting, the plan is available for public inspection and comment through June 25th at the Cary Community Center, located at 404 N. Academy Street. The Cary Town Council meets each second and fourth Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers located in Town hall Building A, 316 N. Academy Street, Cary. Beginning on June 25th, Town Council meetings can also be seen live in Cary and in some surrounding communities on Time Warner Cable’s channel 11.
