CARY TO HOST NC POLICE CHIEFS’ MEETING

CARY, NC -- More than 135 top law enforcement officials are expected at the annual meeting of the NC Association of Chiefs of Police, hosted this year by the Town of Cary Police Department February 8-10 at Cary’s Embassy Suites.

"We’re very excited about hosting such an important event," said Cary Police Chief Dave Fortson. Fortson is a Past President of the Association.

This year’s theme, "Technology and Personnel as the Millennium Approaches", will be explored in two days of classes and seminars, covering such topics as laptop computers in police cars, infusing empowerment in police agencies, and career development of police personnel.

Participants also will have the opportunity to see cutting-edge public safety products including night-vision devices, radar, firearms, vehicles, computers, software, and uniforms. "We’re having the latest and greatest products under the sun," said Officer Dave Wulff who is helping to coordinate the event. The Cary meeting will boast the largest vendor display in the conference’s history.

There are about 400 police chiefs in North Carolina. Last year’s meeting was held in High Point.
