Curbside Leaf Collection
Beginning Nov. 9 through Jan. 31, we will collect loose leaves once a month from each street at no charge. Place loose leaves at the curb by 7 a.m. on the first day of collection for your area.
You should receive a map and complete collection schedule in the mail in October. The map and schedule are also available online at www.townofcary.org.
Throughout the year, yard waste—including leaves—can be placed at the curb on your regular collection day in reusable containers or paper bags.The Citizens Convenience Center on North Dixon Avenue also accepts leaves.
Safe and Spooky Halloween
Our annual free Safe-N-Sane Halloween Celebration will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Cary Towne Center Mall. Trick-or-treat throughout the mall, listen to “Not so Scary” stories and be entertained by the magic of Michael Creech. There will also be pumpkin weight and candy guessing contests, and awards given out for the best costumes.
Those looking for a more hair-raising experience will enjoy our Haunted Twilight Tour of Downtown Cary at 6:30 p.m. at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center. Tour guides will share spooky legends and tales of yesteryear guaranteed to send a chill up your spine!
This program is for participants ages 7 and older. The cost is $10 per person for Cary residents and $13 for all others. Space is limited so secure your spot by registering at www.classweb.townofcary.org. For information, call 460-4963.

Wider road improves traffic flow on Kildaire
Commuters who use this road now enjoy wider outside lanes to accommodate bicycles, sidewalks on both sides of the road for pedestrian traffic, and more road lanes for more efficient travel: four lanes with a median from Palace Green to Steep Bank Drive and five lanes without a median from Steep Bank Drive to 500 feet south of Autumngate Drive.
Connector trails have also been added around the new four-lane Swift Creek Bridge for improved access to the Swift Creek greenway.
New tennis ladder seeks champions
Schedule your own matches, record the scores online, and see the weekly rankings for your division. Each season is 10 weeks long with an end of season weekend tournament for the top eight players.

Honoring our veterans
Join us for a patriotic program, catered lunch and entertainment as we honor all veterans. The luncheon is free for veterans of any age and $8 for all other participants.

Holiday collection schedule
Town offices will be closed on Wednesday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veteran’s Day. Garbage, yard waste and recycling schedules will change as follows:
- Tuesday’s collection will be on Monday, Nov. 9;
- Wednesday’s collection will be on Tuesday, Nov. 10;
- Thursday and Friday collections will remain unchanged.
Town offices will also be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27 in observance of Thanksgiving. The collection schedule will change as follows:
- Tuesday’s collection will be on Monday, Nov. 23;
- Wednesday’s collection will be on Tuesday, Nov. 24;
- Thursday’s collection will be on Wednesday, Nov. 25;
- Friday’s collection will remain unchanged.

Picking up used oil filters at the curb
For free curbside collection of motor oil and used oil filters, call 469-4090 to schedule a pick up. Motor oil must be placed in a closed container and clearly labeled "USED MOTOR OIL." Oil filters must be triple-bagged for collection.
The state’s disposal ban also applies to wooden pallets and plastic bottles. Beginning Oct. 1, we will accept wooden pallets from residents at the Citizen's Convenience Center at 313 N. Dixon Ave. for proper disposal. Waste from private contractors is not accepted.
Our residential curbside recycling program accepts plastic bottles and tubs labeled #1-7 for recycling. These items can also be recycled at the Citizen's Convenience Center at no charge. For more, visit www.townofcary.org.

Our Koka Booth Amphitheatre will host “A Reel-ly Scary Cary” horror film fest from Oct. 26-30.
