Legislative Agenda

Overview

The Town of Cary believes that fostering good working relationships with officials at the federal and state levels is essential to moving the community forward with vision and integrity in a resourceful manner.

Cary's Federal Agenda

Congress sets aside billions of dollars to support innovative programs and capital projects at the state and local levels.  Shares for Cary programs and projects can significantly reduce the cost to Cary taxpayers.  However, the regulations and competition mean that local governments must work hard to qualify for, and obtain, funding.

The Town’s Capital Improvement Plan includes roads and other transportation projects, parks and open space development, water supply and watershed protection, water reclamation facilities, downtown development and technology infrastructure. Since 2002, the Town has been represented by The Ferguson Group in pursuing funding for these needs in the federal budget process. Since 2002, Cary has received more than $11.4 million funding for various projects including the biosolids dryer, greenways, stream restoration, watershed protection, water reclamation and reuse, the traffic signal system, and public safety technology.
